Please support Wakefield Memory Walk Planning Group, a Nova member, by joining the group at its Memory Walk to remember loved ones past and present affected by dementia and help raise vital funds for Alzheimer's Society.
|When||Sunday 17 May at 11:00am to 1:30pm|
Pugneys Country Park
Denby Dale Road, Wakefield, WF2 7EQ
The Memory Walk takes place in a wonderful atmosphere and is a beautiful walk by the side of the lake along a route which is wheelchair and pushchair accessible. Dogs are welcome, but need to be kept on a lead at all times and though you can wear what you want, please come dressed for all weathers! There are toilets, a Cafe and parking on site - please note, car parking charges do apply. Collect a free bottle of water and a 'forget-me-not' badge (the symbol of the Walk), an 'I'm Walking For...' label and safety pins from the Gazebos opposite the reception building. Here you can collect a 'Memory Heart' and write the name of your loved one to hang on the special Memory Tree. There will also be a Tombola and raffle.
People will be called for the Walk (being opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Wakefield) to start at 10.50am at a point just past reception and it will take place in an anti-clockwise direction finishing at the end of the trim trail where Certificates will be issued.
Online donations: www.JustGiving.com and search for Wakefield Memory Walk 2020. There will be an opportunity to donate on the day via the donations desk or via collection buckets.
There are almost 5000 people in the Wakefield District currently diagnosed with dementia and this is set to rise. Join the Wakefield Memory Walk Planning Group at the end of Dementia Action Week and become a fantastic example of the Wakefield community coming together, uniting against dementia and walking for a future without this condition.
