Wakefield Pride 2021 is happening on Sunday 8 August. The event will take place in various venues within the city instead of on Wood Street in order to prevent attendees exceeding capacity.
|When||Sunday 8 August|
City Centre Venues, Bull Ring and Ridings Shopping Centre
Wakefield Pride will be held on Sunday 8 August from 1pm in various venues in the city centre. Wakefield LGBTQ Pride's original plan was to hold the event on Wood Street with a Parade however, as this would be the first mass gathering in the City since the initial lockdown coupled with other local Prides being cancelled, serious fears were raised in relation to safety.
The day will now comprise of all day celebrations in The Rainbow, Strafford Arms, The Raven, The Blind Pig with an after Party at Calder and Hops. There will be a craft market in the Bull Ring and a younger person's event in the Ridings Shopping Centre.
Wakefield LGBTQ Pride will still be showing the best of entertainment throughout the city and are welcoming any local businesses and community groups to get involved if they wish.
This year they really want to focus on community cohesion and bringing everyone in the city together as we begin to recover from the pandemic.
Contact Wakefield LGBTQ Pride if you or your business/community group would like to be involved or would like to raise money on our behalf so that they can really put on a show stopping event next year!
