Project Worker (Self-Employed)

The Mindful Movers Project Worker (self-employed) will work as part of a volunteer and staff team in offering a range of sessions and projects in line with the charity objectives: 'For the public benefit, to relieve the needs of those living with ill-mental health within the Wakefield district and surrounding areas by the provision of educational programmes, wellbeing activities, therapeutic intervention programmes, physical activity, and peer to peer support.'

This is an exciting, varied and responsible role, in which the right candidate will plan and deliver workshops, social meet ups, train, support and coordinate volunteers.

This part time role (funded for 1 year initially) is a great opportunity for someone looking to move back into employment or to work around  family, other commitments.

Applicants are to be to be self-employed and will invoice Mindful Movers monthly for the hours listed above.

  • Sessions and workshops that address various aspects of personal development and wellbeing, whilst bringing people together in a shared environment. This experience encourages the forming of relationships and support through the sharing of challenges, knowledge and experience.  Primarily using the classroom, TRIBE basecamp spaces and Thornes park as a venue.
  • Promote volunteering opportunities at the TRIBE basecamp and Mindful Movers sessions.
  • Bring in social meet ups which follow on from sessions and workshops.  Bringing individuals from diverse backgrounds together by facilitating social meet ups. Our social meet ups help to break down social barriers and encourage peer support. 
  • Work with the charity manager and Stakeholder committee to organise Mindful Movers events.
  • Help develop the TRIBE basecamp site working with the stakeholder committee and Mindful Movers service users.
  • Develop working relationships and promote the TRIBE basecamp project with local partners.

Key Responsibilities of the Project Worker

  • To build a rapport with session members, workshop participants and volunteers.
  • Co-produce a range of sessions / workshops that will help to improve participants wellbeing, confidence, self-esteem, and personal resilience.
  • The project worker will identify opportunities that could help to reduce the impacts of loneliness, social isolation, and exclusion (increasing social connectedness).
  • Signposting and referral to services, activities or organisations which can provide further help, advice, support, or other life-improving benefits to participants, including peer support, buddying or group-based activities.
  • The project worker will support the charity manager and stakeholder committee in tracking project progress and measuring the impact of their role.
  • Developing our volunteer team, identifying any training needs and ensuring induction processes are completed.
  • To establish good working relationships with other professionals and agencies locally to promote Mindful Movers service offer and build partnerships / signposting pathways.
  • To ensure that suitable safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection procedures are followed at all times.
  • The project worker will manage and prioritise their own workload in agreement with the charity manager and the stakeholder committee.
  • To participate in stakeholder committee meetings and work as part of a team to ensure the smooth and effective running of Mindful Movers.
  • To maintain the highest standards of conduct at all times. To carry out the duties of the post with strict adherence to all Mindful Movers policies and procedures, to consult and liaise with the charity manager with regards to the key aspects of the work, and to supply information as required.
  • The project worker will raise awareness with the charity manager / Stakeholder committee of any health and safety issues affecting themselves, colleagues and Mindful Movers service participants.

All paid staff and volunteers are subject to an enhanced DBS check before starting work with Mindful Movers.
