Round 1 of the Live Well Wakefield Small Grants fund, which is funded by Wakefield Council, has awarded funding to the following schemes. The total amount of money awarded was £51,129.00.

Citizens Advice Wakefield District - Completing Welfare Benefits Forms

The scheme will:

  • Recruit and train a team of volunteers to assist members of the public in completing welfare benefits forms
  • Train frontline staff in other organisations such as community anchors so they will be equipped to deal with benefits form enquiries from their clients

Target beneficiaries:

  • Vulnerable client groups
  • Clients with low literacy levels, lack of IT skills or no access to IT, poor language skills, mental health problems,
  • Older people

Eastmoor Community Project Limited - Support for young Dads

The scheme will:

  • Provide a range of activities to help and support young dads to help them engage with their children and develop knowledge and confidence

Target beneficiaries:

  • Dads and families

GASPED - Pilot early intervention programme

The scheme will:

  • Develop a pilot programme of early intervention emotional support for men with mental health issues, leading to delivering a range of non-medical interventional support

Target beneficiaries:

  • Men aged 18 and older

Kidz Aware - Range of support services

The scheme will:

  • Provide a range of support to users, including: 
  • Assistance with filling in forms
  • Debt support
  • Social activities
  • Workshops that build self-esteem and confidence
  • Bringing about more opportunities for those who are isolated to come together

Target beneficiaries:

  • Individuals with disabilities
  • Individuals with mental health difficulties
  • Individuals with hidden impairments

Next Generation - Developing the Arts Café

The scheme will:

  • Develop a daytime programme for the Arts Café to include: 
  • Meet the Arts Café drop in sessions
  • Developing Pic 'n' Mix resource packs
  • Adventures by Bus outings to places of interest

Target beneficiaries:

  • Adults with mental health needs

Spectrum People - Café and Chat

The scheme will:

  • Develop the weekly Café and Chat in Eastmoor

Target beneficiaries:

  • Vulnerable adults

St George's Lupset Ltd - Parent and Toddler group

The scheme will:

  • Set up a parent and toddler group

Target beneficiaries:

  • Local parents
  • Grandparents
  • Childminders

Wakefield District Sight Aid - Sight Aid Hubs

The scheme will:

  • Provide more Sight Aid Hubs across Wakefield District

Target beneficiaries:

  • Visually impaired people
