These engaging sessions will be delivered by a wide range of experienced professionals on a variety of key topics.

Booking information

  • All sessions due to take place in person will be appropriately social distanced and Covid-19 secure.
  • All in person sessions are limited to 12 attendees, so please book as soon as possible to avoid missing out.
  • All sessions will have a Peer Support Follow Up session via Zoom a week after the training session. The Zoom information for this is included in each Eventbrite page.
  • Cancellation can take place up to 48 hours prior to the session. Please contact info@nova-wd.org.uk to cancel a booking.

Volunteer Management (two day course)

Across the whole of the VCSE sector, the contribution of volunteers is highly valued. In Wakefield 11,994 volunteers donate 863,574 hours each year, contributing £11,735,970 to the economy. It is an amazing contribution. This two-day course introduces the key principles of good practice in volunteer management and how to apply them to your organisation.

WYCAS is really excited to be offering a limited number of free places on the brilliant ‘Financial Storytelling’ course led by their good friends Rachel Cooper and Liz Pepler from Embrace Finance. The training is suitable for employed staff or trustees who are responsible for the finances of small charities. It isn’t a technical course and you don’t need a background in finance.

Pride in LGBTQ+ Diversity in the Third Sector

More than a third of LGBTQ+ staff (35%) have hidden that they are LGBTQ+ at work for fear of discrimination. This session will provide a better understanding of identities that fall within the LGBTQ+ umbrella and the distinct challenges that LGBTQ+ people face in the workplace. The workshop will be friendly and informative and will provide a valuable opportunity to engage and educate.

Welcoming and holding people with Mental Health needs in VCSE groups

As part of the new community mental health strategy there will be increased focus on the role that VCSE organisations have in individual's care plans as they move out of primary care services. VCSE organisations need to ensure that they are ready to be part of that recovery journey and have the understanding and information to support participants should they need it. This is an engaging workshop which will look at how we provide inclusive opportunities for participants with Mental Health difficulties accessing community provision.
