Each month we'll be showcasing the amazing organisations that make up our membership and the important work they do across the Wakefield District.

Introducing...Friends of Featherstone Library

Friends of Featherstone Library are group who come together to raise funds. The group have a good laugh, a good chat and lots of cuppas and help one another out where there is a need to.

What is your organisation’s vision for Wakefield District?
We are trying to get people out of isolation and back out into our community.

What project are you working on that you’re most proud of?
We have organised a Christmas Fair to raise our funding to help us do active things in 2022. We are knitting baby blankets, hats, lap blankets and twiddle muffs for Dementia patients.

Any project, volunteer or staff member that you’d like to highlight?
We help with cuppas to lonely people with who have medical problems and food when Sandra bakes and makes sandwiches for our group. We have knit and natter colouring and ladies who come for a chat, a quiz to get your brain active, and bingo.

What do you like about being a Nova member?
Nova is a very helpful organisation and has helped our group to look forward and to see what we can achieve in the future.

How can local organisations and the public support you?
Donations towards our fundraising and come and help whenever they can.

If people would like to get involved, how do they contact you?
You can contact Sandra Greaves on 07824 394163 if you'd like to know more or get involved.
