Exciting sports project at Nostell Priory

Sport England are funding a new post at Nostell Priory to get Wakefield active. Sports Development Officer, Mark Hible has a new challenge on his hands. He is tasked with introducing new activities and sporting experiences to visitors of Nostell.
Tree Council's Tree Futures grants

The Tree Council's Tree Futures grant is now open for applications for the 2014 planting season. Help is offered for tree planting through two grants programmes, the 'Trees for Schools' and 'Community Trees' funds. Any school or community group in the UK that is planning a project that actively involves children under 16 can apply.
Youth Contract Success in Wakefield District

The Youth Contract in Wakefield District is showing very promising results with young people not in education, employment or training down from 13.1% in April 2009 to its current level of 5.1%.
WYCAS seeking new board members

WYCAS, the community accountancy service for West Yorkshire, is seeking new members for its board that have experience of using WYCAS services. WYCAS is particularly keen for representation from Wakefield District.
Involve's 16th Quarterly Confidence Report published

The 16th Quarterly Confidence Report, which surveyed voluntary and community sector organisations in Yorkshire and Humber, has recently been published. It reports that more charities expect stability over the next 12 months in both their organisation and the sector, although few anticipate growth. To meet greater demand for services with less funding, many reported reducing their costs through partnership work and utilising volunteers to support or supplement the work of staff.
Locality to run Our Place programme

Locality, in partnership with the Local Government Association and delivery associates such as the Community Development Foundation, will be running the Our Place programme funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government. This £4.3m package of support and grants will support at least 100 neighbourhoods – improving areas informed by the people who know best – those who live there!
