Contribute to this important overview of cancer work and support across Wakefield District.

If your VCSE organisation provides cancer support of any kind in Wakefield District then Sharon Nobbs, Cancer Transformation Lead, would love to hear from you.

Sharon works at Wakefield District Health & Care Partnership (NHS) and is currently writing a Cancer Programme Plan that provides an overview of cancer work across the district. Partners such as Mid-Yorkshire Hospital Trust, Public Health, Healthy & Sustainable Communities, NHS England Screening teams, Primary Care, ICB and the Cancer Alliance have a lot of cancer-focused work happening, so the next move is to try and have a clearer overview of this great work and also to identify the gaps.

It is vital that VCSE input is part of this overview and Sharon would like the VCSE sector to be involved in future partnership discussions about cancer with wider system partners.

Sharon would like to connect with:

  • any VCSE organisations who have events or work that links to supporting people with cancer
  • any VCSE networks that link to some of our marginalised communities - as VCSE expertise in understanding these population groups would be a real asset in targeted partnership project work across the district

The ask

If you connect to cancer in your work, please get in touch so Sharon can find out more about what you do, your expertise and link you with cancer work and discussions.

Please either email Rachel Hale at Rachel.Hale@nova-wd.org.uk or contact Sharon directly at sharon.nobbs1@nhs.net
