Bernard Sunley Foundation have three levels of grants.
They fund capital projects, with project costs between £10,000 and £5 million. This is open to charities with an annual income of under £10 million.
The funding categories are: community, education, health, and social welfare.
The types of projects supported are those that make a positive contribution to their neighbourhood and create a sense of belonging. These projects provide greater opportunities for families, the elderly, young people and children to get involved in sport and social activities. Churches are considered if their improvements benefit the wider community. The community funding areas are:
The Foundation supports learning experiences and life skills for children and young people, particularly for the disadvantaged, those with disabilities or special needs. Trustees are keen to encourage young people to experience the outdoors and to try new pursuits. The education funding areas are:
Trustees fund projects that provide an excellent standard of care and support in their communities. These include the creation of modern facilities for those suffering from a range of illnesses such as cancer, mental health or neurological conditions. They also include developing amenities such as gardens and outdoor spaces that provide relief and sanctuary for patients, their families and carers. The health funding areas are:
The Foundation pledges grants to assist the most vulnerable in society such as those seeking help with addiction, homelessness, ex-offenders and victims of domestic and sexual abuse. The social welfare funding areas are:
Grants of up to £5,000 are available for registered charities for specific projects that improve communication skills for disadvantaged adults and supports NEET people into employment.
Grants available for VCSE organisations to bring creative ideas to life across our district, funding creative and heritage projects around three themes: Creative Wellbeing, Creativity and Nature, and New Creative Work.
Grants to support charitable organisations working with vulnerable, disadvantaged, or under-represented communities. Priority areas are: access, empowerment, quality of life, and better future. Can cover core costs.
