Grant Round 8 of the Mayor’s Safer Communities Fund, which is making £350,000 available to VCSE groups and organisations across West Yorkshire, is now open.
This grant round will support projects and interventions which will help deliver the new Police and Crime Plan 2024-28.
The Safer Communities Fund is looking for projects which support community led safety which includes funding for training, projects that enable volunteers to enhance and support service or project delivery to develop their skills, knowledge and self-confidence, volunteer led projects/interventions including manager, staffing costs, volunteer coordination costs and costs which support engaging with the sector to tackle or prevent crime and improve community safety.
Anyone delivering in any part of West Yorkshire across Bradford, Calderdale, Leeds, Kirklees and Wakefield Districts can apply.
The fund will also be open to projects which will deliver the BUILD element of Clear, Hold Build (CHB) in four specific areas across West Yorkshire. CHB is a framework designed to improve the local response to tackling serious and organised crime threats, and are inviting projects delivering in BD3 in Bradford, Park Ward in Calderdale, Harehills in Leeds, and Ashbrow in Kirklees to apply. The fund closes at midday on 4 July 2025.

Unrestricted grants for small charitable organisations (income under £1m) making a difference to their community for the benefit of people and planet.
Funding is available for both project and core costs. Supporting work with people in trouble, particularly young offenders and ex-offenders, as well as other disadvantaged young people.
This new grant round will support projects that enable people to access food, create opportunities for young people, improve people’s mental wellbeing, promote community cohesion and build sustainable futures.
