Find out about and have your say on the Community Enterprise Growth Plan, which focuses on using new Dormant Assets funding to invest in community enterprises.

The Dormant Assets Scheme is a unique and well-established partnership between government and financial services firms, allowing unclaimed money to be used for the public good. You may have seen the recent government announcement that Access will receive £87.5 million from the Dormant Assets Scheme to grow social investment in underserved places and communities.

This includes at least £12.5 million earmarked to support youth-focused organisations and £12 million to scale-up funding for a Black and Ethnically Minoritised-led social investment fund, Pathway Fund.

Access is keen to put the money to work as soon as possible. They are launching a short consultation to guide the implementation of the priorities set out in the Community Enterprise Growth Plan, which has been developed and backed by a range of business organisations, voluntary sector and community representative bodies, enterprises and social investors.

Community Enterprise Growth Plan

The Community Enterprise Growth Plan focuses on the untapped potential for growing enterprises with a social purpose in underserved places and communities. It is a proposal to create jobs, boost growth and address inequalities by unlocking new investment for community enterprises.

The plan would use new Dormant Assets funding to invest in community enterprises – the community-based businesses, social enterprises and trading charities taking entrepreneurial approaches to tackling social problems. The plan centres on providing increased access to capital, dedicated funding to encourage the growth of trading activity, and tailored business support.

Have Your Say - Open Until 15 July

By responding to the Access consultation, you can help shape the next phase of social investment.

The consultation is open until midday on Tuesday 15 July and all details and documents are available on the Access website.

Access will also host webinars, focus groups and one-to-ones to support engagement during the consultation phase.
