Create & Bloom, allows users to select a different artform (e.g. drawing, creative writing, dance and movement) and follow a 30-day course of around 5-30mins activity time per day. The app is publicly available but can also used by Social Prescribers, clinicians and health services and features a signposting element that alerts users to creative activities that are happening in their community for when they feel confident to access a group. The aim is to promote the benefits of creative activities for wellbeing for everyone and promote access to local opportunities in the community.
South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are accepting proposals for content for the Create & Bloom app. The funder would like 30 days of content comprised of either 30 separate sessions of the same theme or 30 separate sessions that enable the user to build their skills where the ‘end product’ is a finished piece.
Content can be in the form of video tutorials, audio ‘podcast style’ or text and photo/illustration based. Please consider the format to best support the user to carry out activities alone with ease and consider making the content as widely accessible as possible.
The funder would like to create a more diverse content offer which will encourage men and in particular, men from the global majority, consider accessing and engaging with creative health activities to support their health and wellbeing. Through creative consultations conducted by Everybody Arts, men identified that they like activities that:
It is not expected that one course of content would cover all the above bullet points but applicants should consider if their proposal meets the requirements outlined.
The funder acknowledges that some art forms/content may be more time consuming than others and would encourage organisations to put forward their costs whether under or over £5,000.
We’re asking organisations or creative freelancers to submit a proposal, including timeline and budget, details of their previous work (including any links or examples) and proposal for how the content would translate (Eg film, audio, illustration or a combination).
Those who are interested in the opportunity are strongly advised to contact sophiejo.peel@swyt.nhs.uk prior to submitting a proposal to discuss further.
Proposals should be sent to Creativityandhealth@swyt.nhs.uk
It is also recommended that applicants download the Create & Bloom app so they have a good understanding of how varied the content can be.
The closing date for applications is Friday 27 June at 5pm.
If successful, what is the deadline for completing the project?
We aim to notify the successful applicant by end of July 2025 and would hope that they would be able to complete content creation, and have all content with us by December 2025. However, please ensure you include a timeline on your proposal – if this exceeds December 2025 we can discuss with you further and see how we might help.
My budget exceeds £5000, can I apply for more money?
We have £5000 allocated to this commission but please do include a detailed budget breakdown on your proposal, if this exceeds £5000 there may be items we can cover internally and we will discuss this with successful applicants. We will be honest about items we cannot fund.
My area of practice is already on the app, can I still apply?
Yes! We know that artists and organisations will all approach the same creative activity in lots of different ways. We are wanting to hear from people and organisations who feel their work will engage men and particularly men from the global majority in a creative practice identified on the brief.
I’m a freelance creative, can I still apply?
Freelance artists can apply but must have a UTR code and are required to complete an IR35 form before confirmation of commission.
