The UK Government is launching a new fund that aims to strengthen community cohesion and resilience in England.
The UK government’s £1.7 million Common Ground Award aims to recognise good practice across England, in promoting social cohesion, by directly investing in organisations making a positive impact.
Voluntary, community and social enterprise sector organisations that are working to bring people together from different backgrounds will be able to apply for capital grants of up to £10,000 from 13 October. The capital grants are to support the cost of constructing or renovating facilities, or the purchasing of equipment to deliver services.
The funding is intended to support new builds, refurbishment, and expansion of facilities used to build bridging social capital. Funding can also cover essential equipment, such as laptops or furniture for the property.
The grant is open to applications from VCSE organisations with a base and operating in England, with charitable, benevolent or philanthropic purposes.
Organisations will be notified of their application outcome in January 2026 with funding awarded the same month.
Applications open 13 October 2025 and close 21 November 2025.
Young people aged 13+ can apply for funding to spend on creative, arts, cultural, heritage or movement opportunities that will benefit other young people in the South East, City Centre or the Five Towns.
Grants for registered charities, CICs and community benefit societies focused on arts, preventing/reducing the impact of poverty, supporting marginalised groups or supporting specific mental health issues.
The Comic Relief Community Fund is offering grants of up to £5,000 for grassroots, community-led organisations in England that support people living in, or at risk of, poverty or hardship.
