This commission of £10,000 is funded by Wakefield Council.
The Menopause Support Programme Commission is a funding opportunity developed in response to feedback from residents during health and wellbeing programmes, run by the Wellbeing Team at Wakefield Council. During these sessions, menopause was identified as a significant barrier to women living healthy lives.
This £10,000 commission aims to support the development and delivery of a pilot community-based menopause lifestyle programme. Insights from research and a local focus group has shaped the project brief, highlighting the need for a lifestyle programme which integrates physical activity and menopause education with peer support inan inviting space within the community.
The funding seeks to support a Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisation working in Wakefield District, or a partnership of VCSE organisations, to deliver an inclusive, accessible and interactive programme that addresses the physical, emotional and social challenges of menopause.
We are looking for a VCSE organisation or partnership who can provide a unique programme based around their communities’ needs in relation to menopause.
The successful organisation or partnership must be able to provide two face to face support programmes around menopause and wellbeing for women within their local community, for a minimum of 8 weeks. The programme should be delivered in two community areas with a focus on areas of deprivation. Support must be in the form of a group-based session in the evening or weekend, focusing on education, physical activity, and peer support.
The programme is about overall health and wellbeing around menopause and does not need to be advertised as a weight-management programme specifically.
The successful organisation or partnership will be expected to:
