In your role, you see how decisions affect our local communities. We want to give you the opportunity to be part of these decisions, using your understanding of the needs and views of communities to make positive change.
Supported by the Local Authority and Health and Care Partnership, Nova is currently recruiting for five opportunities available as part of VCSE Voices. This project sees leaders from the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector attend strategic, decision-making meetings across Wakefield District.
We need your help to advocate for our sector!
The Wakefield & North Kirklees Cancer Locality Network System Group works to improve cancer outcomes and patient experience across Wakefield and North Kirklees by driving collaboration across system partners. The System Group's aim is to improve patient experience and outcomes for cancer across the following six core areas:
The VCSE Advocate will attend board meetings and champion the sector. They will provide knowledge and insight about the needs of VCSE groups and the diverse communities they serve, sharing information from and to the sector.
We’re looking for a leader from the VCSE sector who can communicate effectively and use their knowledge to influence decision making. You do not have to be a CEO to apply for this role, you could be a volunteer, board member, or work in front-line delivery. We encourage people with different leadership experience to apply, and this is a brilliant opportunity to further develop leadership skills.
The Advocate will have considerable experience in and practical knowledge of cancer care or supporting those who have been affected by cancer, for example already belonging to a VCSE organisation which supports cancer communities. They will contribute vital information and expertise from the VCSE sector to further the System Group’s role in acting as “a forum for debate, confirm and challenge,” and to “advise and achieve consensus of expertise and opinions.”
The Combatting Drugs Partnership meet every bi-monthly for 2 hours and VCSE Advocates meet monthly for peer support, discussion and to share information. 3-6 hours per month is a rough guide but this may vary depending on meetings.
We've got 6 quick reasons why you should get involved...
