Nova AGM 2024-25: What Does The Future Hold?

We’re inviting you to our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 12 November, 9am to 11.30am at St Catherine’s Church and Community Centre.

This year, our focus is on what the future holds.

  • Learn about our work over the past year to support the localVCSE sector in challenging times, with reflections from Nova’s Chair and CEO
  • Explore the campaign to “do with” and how the VCSE sectorcan be part of a radical shift in the services our communities need, led by our keynote speaker Adam Lent from The King’s Fund.
  • Continue the conversation and network, with plenty of timeset aside to meet VCSE organisations working locally and partners

From 'doing to' to 'doing with': why compassion is the solution to an era of crisis

We hear from our members that alongside other challenges, demand for support is increasing.

So we want to bring ‘do with’ to Wakefield District. It’s calling for a radical and hopeful change in how public services work – moving from ‘doing to’ people and communities to ‘doing with’. Where this is happening in the country, it has directly addressed the growing pressures being placed on publicand VCSE sectors that are driving up waiting times and pushing services to breaking point.

In the keynote talk, Adam Lent (Senior Consultant at The King's Fund) will explore why a fundamental shift in the way the state and its partners works, based on compassion and care, can help us navigate our way through these challenges facing the VCSE organisations. Let’s have an active voice in the change needed for our sector and communities!

We welcome anyone interested in community-led change to attend and contribute to shaping a shared vision for a stronger VCSE sector.
