59% of charity boards are not representative of the communities they serve. We're starting a new project to support local organisations to work on this.

Nova has been awarded £20,413 for two initiatives focused on strengthening the infrastructure supporting volunteers - to increase diversity, enhance the volunteer experience, and equip volunteer managers across Wakefield District.

This includes:

  • Workshops and engagement sessions helping organisations to recruit trustees from underrepresented backgrounds
  • The development of an online Volunteer Resources Hub, co-designed with a group of local organisations

Through work with local VCSE organisations and our Volunteer Managers Network, we hear about their persistent challenges in recruiting trustees and a lack of access to consistent, high-quality volunteer management resources.

So we're excited to be able to offer new support to organisations in an area that our team are passionate about.

Interested in giving your input on the new resources? We'd love you to get involved by joining our Volunteer Managers Network, email Elsie at elsie.heslam@nova-wd.org.uk

This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
