Apply by 10 April: Compassionate Leadership Programme (Cohort 3)

Following the continued success and positive impact of the Compassionate Leadership Programme across the Wakefield system, applications for Cohort 3 are now open.

This programme has been a key component of NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board's collective ambition to embed a culture of compassion, wellbeing and inclusive leadership across health and care. Designed for leaders at all levels, it provides a structured opportunity to reflect, develop and strengthen leadership approaches that support both workforce wellbeing and service delivery.

‍Programme overview

‍The Compassionate Leadership Programme is a fully funded three-day development offer focused on:

• Building self-awareness and compassionate leadership behaviours
• Strengthening team relationships, psychological safety and communication
• Supporting leaders to navigate complexity, change and workforce challenges
• Embedding sustainable cultural change across organisations

Impact and feedback

‍Feedback from previous cohorts has been consistently strong, with delegates reporting significant improvements in confidence, self-awareness and their ability to lead with compassion.

Notably, evaluation data has demonstrated a clear shift from low and moderate confidence levels into consistently high-confidence ratings across all key measures by programme completion. Delegates have also highlighted the practical application of learning within their teams, contributing to improved culture, engagement and ways of working.

• Day 2: 20 May 2026
• Day 3: 10 June 2026
