Tacking Racism in Sport 2025
As part the Yorkshire and Humber Anti-Racism in Sport Group‘s continuing work there will be a short series of events in November 2025 tackling racism in sport.
With an overarching theme of Active Bystandership each event will address racism in coastal, rural, and urban areas. Focus areas will be online abuse, refugees, intersectionality, coastal inequalities and systems leadership.
The events are open to anyone with an interest in these topics encouraging wider regional conversations.
Day One: Rurality, Racism and Reality
Featuring Dr Matthew Joseph sharing insight into migration in North Yorkshire, Paula Stainton from York City Foundation sharing their continuing journey as active bystanders and we are privileged to have Chikere Igbokwe of ‘Inclucive’ to speak and give us tools to fight online abuse.
Attendees will learn and reflect about Active Bystandership at every level, real life stories of inclusion, anti-racism and take away opportunities for real action.
The final session will be ‘A Community in Motion’ – Active Bystander Training session with Yorkshire and Humber Sport Welfare Officers
