Dance On Project Assistant

Main purpose of the job

The principle responsibility of the role/s is to provide marketing and administrative support for Yorkshire Dance’s Dance On project. Dance On is a programme of 24 weekly dance classes for over 55s in disadvantaged communities across Leeds and Bradford. Dance On is currently funded through a National Lottery Community Foundation Reaching Communities grant and aims to increase physical activity and wellbeing. The role is located at Yorkshire Dance’s offices in Leeds city centre and will require some travel to classes in Leeds and Bradford (travel expenses are fully reimbursed and travel can be via public transport)

Position in the organisation

The post holder/s will report to the Older People’s Project Manager and will work closely with the Head of Marketing & Development and the Marketing team.

Duties and key responsibilities  

Project Coordination

  • Support the coordination of key annual events including flashmobs and summer and Christmas parties.
  • Coordinate cover artists or liaise with community partners to cancel weekly sessions in the event of regular artist illness.
  • Support the Older Adults Ambassador
  • Support and attend Dance On meetings including artist development days, older adults social committee and community partner meetings.
  • Be the main point of contact for logistics with community partners.
  • Represent Dance On at external events

Administration

  • Respond to all day-to-day participant enquiries providing excellent customer service by phone, email and in person.
  • Manage data collection (e.g. participant registration and monitoring forms) and accurate record keeping via CRM system Salesforce in line with Yorkshire Dance’s data protection policies.
  • Manage the mailing list and weekly communication for Dance On zoom sessions.
  • Work with the Older People’s Producer to prepare quarterly reporting to funders to accurately demonstrate the impact of the Dance On programme including downloading participant data from Salesforce (training provided) and preparing data in excel; creating compelling case studies of Dance On participants.
  • Manage and accurately label/credit the archive of Dance On videos and photos.

Marketing & Communications

  • Liaise with the Head of Marketing & Development to plan, implement and evaluate (including google and social analytics, sign-ups, etc.) an annual campaign plan for Dance On in line with Yorkshire Dance’s Marketing Strategy.
  • Write compelling copy for a wide variety of channels including newsletters, blogs, social media and print. Ensuring tone is consistent across all channels and copy reflects Yorkshire Dance’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusivity.
  • Lead on content updates of the Dance On website and liaise with the Marketing team to update Dance On content (including but not exclusively case studies, news, class listings and artist listings) on the Yorkshire Dance website.
  • Manage the Dance On mailing lists and create and send/distribute a quarterly Dance On digital newsletter (via Campaign Monitor) and print newsletter (Adobe InDesign) to promote Dance On and Yorkshire Dance events and projects.
  • Lead on digital content creation taking a video first approach (using Canva, Kapwing, Adobe) in line with Yorkshire Dance’s social media guidelines and liaise with the Marketing team to schedule regular content across Yorkshire Dance’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, BlueSky).
  • Update print templates in Adobe InDesign and lead on print and distribution of leaflets to promote Dance On classes.
  • In liaison with the Marketing team develop and send reciprocals to relevant organisations.
  • Support the Marketing team to disseminate information about relevant events and projects (e.g. Ageless Festival and performance opportunities) to Dance On participants.
  • Support the Marketing team to develop press releases relating to Dance On.
  • Ensure Yorkshire Dance and Dance On’s visual identity is represented correctly ensuring all partners and stakeholders adhere to brand guidelines.

Pension: Where eligible, auto-enrolment in company pension scheme
Period of contract: Fixed term from September 2025 to December 2026
Annual Leave: 25 days plus statutory and bank holidays pro-rata.
Probation period: 6 Months
Notice period: 2 months
Right to work: The candidate would have to have the right to work in the UK to take up this role.
