Citizen Coin have made an update to the platform so that organisations can advertise one-off volunteering activities suitable for people who have a paid volunteering day.

We can't believe it's been over a year since Citizen Coin came to Wakefield District! It was a whole new way to find and reward volunteers, and since then Nova members have awarded over 55% of the coins.

The platform has just introduced new, simplified volunteering options designed to suit today's workforce.

The reach could be significant and help to raise the profile of your organisation:

  • Will be promoted internally at Wakefield Council to 5,000+ employees who each have one paid day per year to volunteer
  • The Citizen Coin team are already in contact with other major employers like Vico Homes, Hako, Haribo, and Amazon who have similar volunteering policies

If this is something you would like to explore, you can get involved now.

What you can do

  • Start thinking about activities your organisation could offer
  • Upload them to the platform
  • Help to build momentum for this new phase of Citizen Coin

To align with this type of volunteer, Citizen Coin are looking for activities that are simple and accessible with no DBS checks or formal training required. They must take place within Wakefield District to qualify under the Council's policy.

Examples include:

  • One-off volunteering sessions
  • Skills-based support (e.g. marketing, finance, IT)
  • Community events or campaigns
  • Environmental or wellbeing initiatives
  • Large team-friendly projects like decorating or gardening

If you have any questions or need support uploading your opportunities, please get in touch with citizencoin@wakefield.gov.uk
