Importance of place in finding & engaging people seen as 'harder to reach'
The Good Practice Mentor team invite you to join them for a practical workshop session, exploring the importance of place in finding and engaging 'harder to reach' people.
In this workshop session we'll be sharing practical outreach strategies to support you to proactively find and engage people out on the street and on the doorstep. We'll also discuss how to make the most of community assets including parks, pubs, libraries and cafes, (often perceived by older people as 'neutral' spaces), as places to provide informal steppingstone opportunities to bring together people less likely to access formal groups and activities.
During the workshop you'll hear about:
- How outreach practice can address barriers to finding and engaging 'harder to reach' people
- Top tips for street outreach and door knocking with signposting to further resources and free practical training
- How to identify and make the most of your local community assets including parks, pubs, libraries and cafes, to provide steppingstones to engage 'harder to reach' people
- The support available from the Good Practice Mentor Programme to support you to find, engage, connect and work together with people
During the workshop there will also be an opportunity to reflect upon and discuss the spaces and places in your own area that could provide opportunities to find the people you'd like to meet and steppingstones for engagement.
