
To encourage, inspire and support the personal and social development of children and young people aged 5 to 25 years. This will be done through a variety of Youth Work interventions to meet the needs of groups or individuals. This will empower and help young people to be aware of their rights and responsibilities as children and young people and as active citizens.
A. Areas of Responsibility
1. To support the delivery of high-quality group activities; after school, early evening and during school holidays.
2. To work with individuals and groups to ensure that programmes of work achieve planned outcomes.
3. To supervise and facilitate the delivery of a range of appropriate activities and opportunities both indoors and outdoors.
4. To contribute to planning which ensures that the individual needs and interests of children and young people are met.
5. To foster positive relationships with children, young people and their families.
6. To ensure that activities are inclusive and meet the needs of children and young people with SEND +. If appropriate working with the parents and/or other professionals to meet the needs of the child or young person.
7. To support the senior staff in ensuring that all the requirements of Health and Safety, and other relevant guidance and legislation are in place.
8. To work with children and young people to safeguard their welfare and support the team to provide a safe, caring environment where all children and young people are supported to reach their full potential.
9. To ensure that information about children; provided by parents, other team members and professionals is passed on to those who need to know and recorded as necessary, ensuring that the principles of confidentiality are maintained.
10. To support the Senior team to develop and maintain links with outside agencies.
B. People Management
11. To actively contribute to supervisions and appraisals to support your development and wellbeing.
12. To ensure that you maintain and update your professional knowledge and skills, keeping up to date with current guidance, policy and legislation.
13. To support the work volunteers, students in the organisation.
C. Operational and Business Management
14. To support senior staff to provide accurate up to date information and reports on the progress of individuals, activities and groups.
15. To comply with data protection and information sharing systems.
D. Safety, Equality & Diversity, Quality and Safeguarding
16. To comply with current guidance; legislation and the organisations safeguarding policies for children and vulnerable adults and follow procedures as required.
17. To comply with the organisations equality and diversity policy.
18. To support any work undertaken by the organisation aimed at maintaining and improving quality.
E. Scope of Responsibility
E1 - Responsibility for Supervision, Direction of Employees
There would be an expectation to give guidance and support to volunteers and individuals on work experience as necessary.
E2 - Responsibility for Physical Resources
There will be occasional responsibility for physical resources.
Regular input of information on to electronic systems.
E3 - Responsibility for Budgets
Occasional receipt of monies from children for activities.
Very occasional use of petty cash within petty cash procedure.
E4- Level of Contacts, Customers and Clients
Regular dealings with children and young people.
Occasional meetings with other professionals both internal and external to discuss the progress of children and young people.
Working within the team to give and receive information in a timely and accurate way.
E5 - Levels of Independence and Initiative
Contribution towards the planning of activities involving the children and young people
Responsible for planning contacts with young people.
Regular contact with Manager and Deputy Manager who will be available for reference purposes.
Major decisions would require the agreement of the Manager or Deputy Manager.
E5 - Working Conditions and demands
Occasionally required to provide verbal or written information about the welfare of children, which can upset/distress or cause parents to become angry.
Rarely required to work within a customer’s home.
Regularly required to move furniture and reset rooms.
Regularly required to work anti-social hours.
Regularly expected to work indoors and outdoors and off site.
Occasionally required to work outside normal working hours.

INTERVIEWS
If you are shortlisted you will be invited to a working interview followed by a formal interview.
Working Interview - At the working interview you will be set a task related to the job role.
Formal Interview - This is a traditional interview where you will be asked a number of questions by a small panel. You will then have the opportunity to ask questions of the panel.
