Future SELPH Worker

Objectives of the role

1. To contribute to the Future SELPH service: delivering a range of high-quality services, projects and interventions that meet the needs of groups and individuals, engaging with those who meet the Future SELPH eligibility criteria -including those 16-25 year olds who are particularly disengaged, isolated and are ‘hard to reach’.  

2. To manage a caseload of young people at any one time, working on an outreach basis and in house, equipping young people with strategies to better manage their health and wellbeing, engaging them in positive activities and providing them with support, information and practical advice both on an individual basis and in groups.

3. Contribute to the effective monitoring and evaluation of this service and ensure positive outcomes are evidenced.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

A. Deliver a range of high-quality services, projects and intervention.
1. To contribute to the development and delivery of the project and service action plan.  
2. To use person centred planning that is suited to the developmental needs and interests of the groups/individuals and support them to participate in the co-production process.
3. To contribute to the development and maintenance of new relationships and partnerships that support the growth and development of the Future SELPH work.
4. To contribute to the co-ordination of the mapping and understanding of localised wellbeing activities that will aid the Future SELPH workers in supporting the needs of young people.
5. To provide services that are inclusive and meets the needs of all young people.  If appropriate, working with the parents/carers and or other professionals to meet these needs, bearing in mind issues of confidentiality.

B. Provide support, information and practical advice
6. Engage with young people and provide advice and guidance on a range of issues as appropriate. Working with them in a restorative and flexible manner to address a range of needs, including mental health issues, ACES, ‘risky behaviours’.
7. Develop and deliver group work programmes, positive activities and one off sessions, based on the identified needs of young people e.g., sexual health, sport and fitness, art and creativity- bringing in specialist external organisations/partners as required
8. Participate in multi-agency working to ensure the best outcomes for young people
9. Act as an advocate and referring young people onto external provision as appropriate
10. To identify and implement the relevant safeguarding policy and procedural pathway for individuals.
11. Create with young people case studies to illustrate their journey and celebrate success with them.

C. Contribute to the effective monitoring and evaluation of this service  

1. To use the administrative systems within Future SELPH and wider St George’s to support the smooth running of the service and organisation.  
2. Conduct assessments, maintain case records and provide reports as required
3. Maintain casework records and contribute to reports, in accordance with project administrative procedures.

D. General
1. Take part in regular, reflective supervision and appraisals.
2. Attend any required training and meetings to support CPD and enhance the quality of the service.
3. Work within the organisational policy and procedure framework

How to apply

St George's have a four-stage application process made up of, an informal chat, formal competency-based application, working interview, and formal interviews. These four stages help to assess your skills, abilities, knowledge and competencies and help you to get to know the organisation and job requirements.

VISIT AND INFORMAL CHAT

INTERVIEWS
If you are shortlisted you will be invited to a working interview followed by a formal interview.
Working Interview - At the working interview you will be set a task related to the job role.
Formal Interview - This is a traditional interview where you will be asked a number of questions by a small panel. You will then have the opportunity to ask questions of the panel.
